What it actually is

A padded coat finished with a high-gloss “wet look” coating over a windproof, weather-resistant shell. The shine does more than turn heads: a coated surface sheds rain and sleet instead of absorbing it, and it blocks wind from pushing through to the padding, which is what keeps the warm layer of trapped air around your body intact. Inside, the padding is sewn into channels so the warmth stays evenly spread from shoulders to hem.
